Zubair: Sure Ziff… I will start with what a CC is and how to identify it.
Ziphor: Are you kidding? How do you think they joined the clan if they don’t know what a CC is? (and he is a Co Leader in the clan..Wow)
Zubair: Err.. umm…yeah you are right.. I will start with how to identify the radius of the CC and how many troops each CC level can hold
Ziphor: If someone doesn’t know - that during prep day they can click on CC and check the radius and the no.of troops it holds I can “score a goal”. Stop messing around and write about something people don’t know. Why the hell do you want to write about something people already know..
Zubair: (this guy needs something to drink) ok dude… I will start with luring the CC.
How to Lure a CC: A centered CC can make your life hell where as a CC towards the outside would be easy to lure. This is one of the main reasons why some of the best base designs have a centered CC.
A CC towards the outside can be lured easily with any tier 1 troops although barbarian is better as it will survive longer. With a centered CC the situation is much more complicated. So let us see what the best way to handle this is. Below is an example of a base where the CC is not very easy to pull. A well spread out base with the CC in the center is even harder…
Ziphor: Ok.. Ok… We got it... “Watch out for Centered CC”… move on!!
Zubair: One of the easiest ways to trigger the CC without a lot of fuss is to use a giant. In the base like the one mentioned above, its easier to throw in a giant and 2 wbs to open up the wall and the giant survives long enough to activate all the CC troops. Even with a spread out base, this would work because a giant generally survives longer, so with his slow walking and high HP he will activate all the CC troops.
It is important to remember to count the CC troops that come out. That is why during your scouting on the prep day check what is the capacity of the CC. One left over wiz can ruin your raid. A common practice by defenders is to keep a variety of troops so that they are triggered slowly. A lot of archers of different levels, wiz, witch etc could take a while to come out. The attacker could waste valuable time luring the troops and killing them. And at the end of the attack you don’t have enough time to clean up. So be careful, don’t waste time and count the troops.
Ziphor: This all sounds good, but I know you got a fancier option. What is that?
Zubair: A fancy option is to do 2 things at once. Use the troops to lure CC and also take out a couple of buildings. A couple of hogs or balloons are perfect for this job. 2 hogs for example – which are almost same army capacity as a giant and 2 wbs, can take out any defense building and also activate the CC. Same with balloons.
Ziphor: Ok looks good. I like fancy…always!! Now we take them to any corner and kill them with Archer and Wiz right. What else you got?
Zubair: Not exactly. That is just one of the options.
Killing the CC troops: Archer and Wiz are by far the safest and the easiest troops to use to get rid of the CC troops. They attack both ground & air and Wizard behind the archer should take the CC out reasonably faster. Always remember to keep the Wiz behind archers, they are your high DPS troops and the longer they survive the more CC troops they kill. However there are a few important things to remember when you clear CC.
Ziphor: Dude, you missed balloons in the bad troops section.
Zubair: Hang on!! Let me finish. There are some interesting options to use to kill CC. Valks, Witches and balloons. But these are in general used in high level game play. So may be we talk about it later.
Ziphor: What do you mean!! That I cant do high level game play?
Zubair: Err… Ahh… (idea!!) No Ziff I thought its applicable only to you and don’t need to share it with our clan members. Our game play is not as efficient as yours.
Ziphor: Ok, How do we use them.
Zubair:
Interesting Tactics:
There are 2 prerequisites to use these strategies.
1. We know what troops are in the CC.
2. We do a lot of practice.
Its very important to know what troops are in the CC as they wont be useful always. For ex: With air troops Witch has almost zero effect and Valkyrie is a sitting duck. The balloon also wouldn’t work against the CC troops.
Ziphor: Ok got it. They don’t work always. But when and how do we use them?
Zubair: The other important thing is to have enough practice using them. Try to use them in your raiding to clear the CC. Use your normal troops if air troops come out, if not use these for practice.
Ziphor: Ya that is what I was thinking too, use them in raiding. But how do we use them?
Zubair: For witch, its a bit complicated, it is essential to not drop her too early. If there are no troops on the base and you drop a witch, the CC troops will target her. Even if the witch generates skeletons by the time CC troops reach her, they will ignore the skellys and go for the witch. If your witch dies then that’s a lot of DE evaporated. So drop a few barbs, archers and then drop the witch behind them, so that the CC troops will target the barb or archer first and once they kill them, they will recalculate and go for the skellys.
With the loons is a bit more complicated. This needs a lot of practice and skill to execute it.
Ziphor: You said complicated, skill and practice a 100 times…So Shut the F*** up and tell me how to use loons
Zubair: Calm down man… here have a beer.
The idea is the CC troops die out of splash damage when the loon dies. The balloon has some really good splash damage to take out arch and wiz. If dropped perfectly a lvl6 balloon has enough splash damage to kill a bunch of wiz and arch. Ofcourse if you try for a full day you might do it once or twice perfectly. The best way is to take a couple of back up troops, may be even 5 archers would be enough to clean up the left over. Imagine that, one balloon and few archers to take out the whole CC – this saves a lot of space in your army camps for other troops. So this is very very efficient but only if used properly.
Obviously this can be used only if the CC has arch or wiz only, any other high HP troops or air troops this wont work. They need to be really bunched up before you drop the balloon. The next step is the tricky part. The balloon will fall off quite soon after you drop it, so dropping it too far behind or ahead will not work properly. You need to figure out the exact distance. If there are wiz in the CC troops 1-2 tiles travel distance is enough. If there are only archers or witches then you should drop around 4 tiles behind so that they drop exactly on the CC troops. Also you need to lure the troops in the position of balloons path. Remember the balloons are still targeting the defensive building, they are not targeting the CC. So just dropping a balloon wont work. You need to bring the CC troops in the path of the balloon like below.

Always remember to keep the Wiz behind archers, they are your high DPS troops and the longer they survive the more CC troops they kill. However there are a few important things to remember when you clear CC.
- The most important step is to take enough troops to kill CC. DONOT be stingy here. I know most people sacrifice a few archers or wiz to take more hogs or any other attacking troops. Your extra hogs are not going to matter if you don’t clear all the CC. Next time when you are stuck with thinking to add more hogs or CC kill troops always always and always choose CC kill troops.
- Don’t bunch the CC kill troops together. Try to spread them around so that Wiz or Dragon’s splash damage doesn’t take all of them out at once. Dont circle your troops and be really careful if there is a valk in the CC. The best thing to do is put 2 rows of troops, preferably wiz behind in the second row.
- Following are some of the really bad troops to use to kill CC.
- In general Goblins, Giants, Wbs, Healer, hogs are useless as they will not attack CC troops.
- Pekka – She is slow and attacks one troop at a time. A group of wiz could finish her off first
- Heroes – In theory heroes are enough to take CC troops out. But think about it, heroes are your most powerful troops. Why would you want to waste them on the CC. Use them effectively. The queen’s royal cloak makes her invisible, I would rather use this when she is at the inferno or xbow than at the CC troops.

Once the balloon drops..BOOM
Another funny tactic is to use Wbs to clear the CC. Not a lot of splash damage, but could be fun thing to do in your normal raiding. Bunch them up near a wall and drop a few wbs. If a couple of them make it to the wall their bomb should take out a few CC troops.
In general, I donot recommend using the balloon and wb technique in wars. Its fun and can be tried in normal raids but war is too risky.
You could also use lightning to clear CC, but this is also a very picky option. You can’t use this always. The lightning would not be enough to take out high HP troops like valks or any air troops like drags. So you can rely on this only if you know what troops are in the CC and if you can sacrifice one of your spells. Also all the CC wont die either if you don’t drop it precisely or if the CC troops are of higher level than your spells(which is generally the case in war). So you might need some extra troops here.
In general it is always good to lure the CC and kill it in war attacks. The only exception could be made for drag attacks.
Ziphor: Dude you like to talk a lot, don’t you?
Zubair: Not really I haven’t said much actually. There is still a lot of ground to cover. The next part is about…
Ziphor: Am sleepy. Looks like my insomnia is going away. Please continue I want to sleep…
Zubair: (I hope he never wakes up)…
